We can all remember as kids being prompted by our parents to - ‘use the magic words’ PLEASE and THANK YOU. They believed in the importance of good manners as being one of the tools we needed to be successful and ‘accepted’ by other people in life.What I have learned in recent years is that on another level these words have a whole other power. If we are constantly thinking ‘please, please, please’ when focusing on our dreams and goals, they often remain dreams because we are operating without faith. Yes we have the desire but we are not believing - we are in fact begging, which is an attitude of lack.
When we ‘ask’ for what we want with ‘praise and thanksgiving’ for already receiving it, we are now operating in faith and belief. That changes everything. I’m not talking ‘magic’ here and God is not Santa Clause, but He does want us to have faith and to ask for what we desire.
When we are surrounded by negative news or difficult times personally, it is easy to ‘fall back’ into old habits that don’t serve us. These habits will keep us where we are or at the least delay our progress forward. Don’t beat yourself up about ‘falling back’. Just start again. Each day is a new day. Each moment in the day we get to choose our attitude and focus.
There is opportunity in every adversity. If you truly want to reach your goals and bring the positive into your life start NOW to change the words you are using. Change the ‘please, please, please, to THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for everything that is happening and for the outcome you want but may not be able to see just yet! This is the most powerful WORK you can do.
When you have this attitude of gratitude, people will want to experience what you have and for them to have it they will need to do things that others will be grateful for. That’s how it all comes back.
On a recent Oprah show, 2 families were on. One family was told their daughter was in a serious car accident and close to death. The other family was told their daughter died. The first family sat vigil over their daughter only to find out weeks later that it was not their daughter but the other girl who was in that hospital bed! Their daughter was dead. This family did not get a lawyer. They did not lash out. They called on their faith and forgave, but here is what hit me the most about this story…..
Months later, the girl who lived met with this family who lost their daughter and said “Our family has had a happy ending, I feel so sad for yours.” The father of the dead girl said “Our family has a happy ending too. We just haven’t seen it yet.” They will see her in heaven and know it all! What an example!
You may have tons of things happening in your life right now. You may be worried about your job, bills, family, etc. You may be doing just fine but want to go to a whole new level this year. Whatever it is, see it in your mind as done and say THANK YOU for it being done without a concern about ‘how’. Say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Start today! It will change your life!
